Nearly two dozen student artists from Grand Rapids Public Schools are vying to have their energy-related artwork highlighted during this fall’s ArtPrize competition through collaboration with the school district and Consumers Energy.

Artwork from all Grand Rapids Public Schools will be on display at the Western Michigan Conference Center May 8, 2017 through May 24, 2017. The artwork was made by students in kindergarten through 12th grade and selected by their teachers. During the exhibit, there will be two receptions to honor the artists. The reception for K-5, K-8 and center based programs will be held on May 9 from 5:30 to 7:00pm. The reception for secondary and non-public school students will be on May 10 from 5:30-7:00pm. Admission is free.
Grand Rapids Public Museum School 6th grade student Marie Milzarski won first place in the elementary division of the Dyer-Ives Poetry Competition.
Grand Valley’s Animation Outreach program extends the experiences students have in the classroom by connecting students to the international animation community and by providing opportunities to interact with real-world problems and clients. The intent of the program is to provide meaningful, authentic learning experiences in animation production.
